I’m just back in the office after leading the Iowa City Find Your Voice Retreat. It was a wonderful weekend with a fabulous group of women!
Most of the feedback is not in yet, but one person did say this:
“I experienced an appropriate, well-facilitated crumbling of some of my long-term false beliefs, and I really appreciate that.”
A big yes to that!
Which brings me to the title of this message today:
God is the dancer, you are the dance.
What does this mean? Let’s define both God and You!
“God is a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” St. Augustine
This is one of my favorite definitions of God. It points to the truth that God-Is-All, infinity, without beginning or end.
As with any truth statement though, it must be contemplated to be realized.
Ponder the idea that you live, move, and have your being in Universal Mind, in a sea of infinite, intelligent Substance.
You
You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop. (Rumi)
You are an individualized expression of God.
** God can only do for you what God can do through you.
You are a rich and creative spiritual being. You can never be less than this. You can frustrate your potential. You may identify with that which is less that what you can be.
You are a Being of Consciousness.
Consciousness is colored by the states that visit it. ~ Buddha
God is the dancer; you are the dance.
Your consciousness, that which you believe to be true about yourself, others, and the world, that which you consent to in each moment, is the matrix through which God, Universal Substance, Light– flows.
You are the dance. What you hold in consciousness must out-picture itself. This is the Universal Law of Cause and Effect.
Isn’t this exciting? You are the dance. Your life reflects your thoughts and beliefs, both conscious and unconscious.
Understanding that you are a Being of Consciousness and practicing creating your life from this position is exhilarating to contemplate and practice.
And when does all of this practice occur?
In the present moment.
Choice always occurs right now.
Your conscious mind is the chooser. You choose, of course, what you eat, which we have become super aware of! You also choose what you think, what you believe, what you ‘tell yourself’.
Usually, we aren’t quite so picky about our thoughts! Yet, they are in many way more impactful that what we eat.
Look and see what false beliefs you are holding onto. Write them down. If you aren’t sure what they are, simply look at your life! Your life reflects your beliefs. If you are experiencing limitations of some sort in any area of your life, or if your desires just haven’t yet been realized, look and see what beliefs are in the matrix of your consciousness.
Those false beliefs which feel real are simply ‘states’ visiting your Consciousness.
You are the dance, God is the dancer.
God can only do for you what god can do through you.

Nancy, I really needed to read your post today. I especially loved these words: “Your consciousness, that which you believe to be true about yourself, others, and the world, that which you consent to in each moment, is the matrix through which God, Universal Substance, Light– flows.” I am really embodying these words—allowing myself to let go of fear and worry and a lack of control. I can give consent to the moment and allow God to flow into me and through me in this very moment. I personally have bought into the fear of uncertainty around the current state of affairs and reading your post has helped to ground and recentered me. Many thanks to you.
HI Misty, I’m so glad these words supported you! We are beings of consciousness and living from this is very powerful indeed.
A very wonderful and powerful post. Thank you.
Beautiful article Nancy!! Really powerful stuff! Thank you. I wondered if you were happy for me to share on my instagram the image of your book page? It is so so important. We are more powerful than we ever imagine.
Hi Katy, Thanks for your comment. I’m glad it resonated with you! Yes of course it’s fine to share the book graphic on your IG account. Love, Nancy
I love this Nancy. Need to reread and reread to take the power of it all in. I also love the dance analogy as I find dance and music so powerful too and without limits
Hi Tamsin, There is a lot to ‘take in’ in these words! So glad you resonate with it all. Love, Nancy
