heart blog photoEfficiency is how we do something.  Love is why we do it.  Efficiency has overpowered Love in our world.  It has become more important.  If you say to your boss or if you say to your financial consultant that love matters more to you than efficiency, they may look at you like you’re crazy.

Companies and people who are very efficient are the leaders, the successes, and the ones who wield power.  I remember watching an interview on Jon Stewart a few years ago that always stuck with me.  The man being interviewed was probably in his late 30’s.  He had created a private company that made rockets.  Quite an accomplishment for a person in their late 30’s.  I also learned that he was divorced and had fine sons who he did not live with.  I remember thinking how this scenario represents the value we place on efficiency vs. love.  How in our world success is measured by power and money rather than by the quality of our relationships and our ability to love deeply.

The Love I speak of though is not the personal romantic love.  It’s the Divine Love, the Love that flows through your heart non-stop, the love that you are made of, the love that surrounds you and me and our planet and the Universe.  The creative Divine Love that when experienced directly, teaches us, without a doubt, that God exists and that we are part of God.

This Love is the love we desire to experience through the expression of our hearts in the world.  Planet earth is a place for manifestation.  The deepest desire we have is to manifest our Love, to manifest our Essence, our unique way of loving the world.

We desire to bring Love to Power through manifesting our hearts.  But we may have abandoned this desire because our world has not given it value.  It has been squashed by the demand of efficiency.

The calling of our time is to reverse this.  It is to make Love primary.  To bring forth your personal manifestations of Love to the world.  Manifestation bring Love to Power.  Your heart’s are yearning to express a deeper level of love and truth.  The world is waiting for this expression also!

How do we do this?

I’ll bet you want a step-by-step process!  I’m not sure I have one.  But I do have some wisdom to offer about staying true to one’s deepest desires of the heart.

  1. The desire of your heart is not created by your mind.  It IS your heart.  Your heart IS desire, the desire to Love and to manifest love in the world is at the very core of your Being.  To understand it you must give it space and time.
  2. Manifestation is where the efficiency culture hooks us.  We begin to fear that we don’t know how to bring our heart into the world.  We start to look at all the shiny ads and all the ‘how to’s’ that promise you exactly how to eliminate fear and live happily ever after by manifesting anything and everything.
  3. When you realize that the ‘how’ is embedded in the Desire itself, life gets more interesting and you experience a deeper trust in your Self.
  4. Efficiency is necessary, of course.  I’m using a bit of efficiency as I write these words to you.  I’m numbering points of wisdom and direction.  I’m thinking of what my intention is; I’m thinking of writing in a way that offers you something of value.  These are efficiency thoughts.
  5. But mostly, I’m feeling my heart and how much I love you.  Mostly, I believe in the power of love to find it’s way to you and that YOU will make sense of the Love in your life.  You will find your own way to bring Love into your work, into your relationships, and into the space of every moment of your day.
  6. Mostly, I believe that those of you who commit to bringing your deepest Self (which is Love) to your life and work will do whatever you need to to make that happen.
  7. You will feel the suffocation of efficiency and you will no longer tolerate it.
  8. Action is required to manifest your Love, to bring Love to Power.
  9. You will take action.

Here are some examples from my client’s lives of actions to bring your Deepest Self to life and work.

  • You may begin to meditate or deepen your existing practice.
  • You may create a business that reflects your deepest desire.
  • You may write your wisdom to share with others.
  • You may create a new program/offering within your company.
  • You may take action about your health that comes from a deeply spiritual place.
  • You will find people who understand your passion to express Love on the planet at this time and who support you in this undertaking.

I’ll leave you with this beautiful passage from John O’Donahue, the Irish poet and priest.  It’s about awakening, which is what occurs when we commit to Love, no matter what.

“Once you start to awaken, no one can ever claim you again for the old patterns. Now you realize how precious your time here is. You are no longer willing to squander your essence on undertakings that do not nourish your true self; your patience grows thin with tired talk and dead language. You see through the rosters of expectation, which promise you safety and the confirmation of your outer identity. Now you are impatient for growth, willing to put yourself in the way of change. You want your work to become an expression of your gift. You want your relationship to voyage beyond the pallid frontiers to where the danger of transformation dwells. You want your God to be wild and to call you to where your destiny awaits.”
