When you view your life as a heroine’s journey, hero’s journey or as a transformational journey, there are certain key passages and choice points that always define such a journey.

The first stage is called The Call.  You are called to live a life greater than what you are living.  You are called to live a life you know deep down is the life you are meant to live.  Sometimes this Call happens early in life.  Sometimes later.  But it’s always there when you look at your life through the lens of this type of transformational journey.

In my book, The Life That Woke Me Up Was My Own, I write about a moment I had with the milkman at my father’s store when I was just five years old.  Here’s a short piece of the chapter:

The milkman drove to our small grocery in New Creek, West Virginia from Cumberland, Maryland. We were just five miles from the state border. He was the tallest of all the deliverymen. On this morning, as usual, he stacked the milk cartons onto the dolly to wheel them inside. But just before he opened the front door of the store, he paused, looked down at me, and asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

I raised my hand to shade my eyes as I peered up at the tall man. Without an ounce of hesitation I said, “I already am who I want to be.”

This was my Call.  As life unfolded and I lost touch with the clarity I had in this moment, that I was a Divine Being having a human experience, my Call became to return to this state, to find it again.

Each of you has a Milkman Moment.  Each of you has a time or a moment or an experience in your life—usually early—and many times forgotten, when you were crystal clear about your Divine Nature, when you felt the connection to your Spirit as You.

Have you forgotten that moment?  Do you remember it but have you excavated the Voice within it?  Did you doubt yourself after you had the experience?

When you are on a transformational journey—(and you are!)—-remembering this moment is key.  It is the source of your Voice, your unique expression of Essence in the world.

To remember and to explore this Call, you may want to journal, meditate, dialogue with your Child, and talk to a friend who is also on a transformational journey.

If you want to go deep into excavating your Heroine’s Journey, this is a key piece of work we do in my Find Your Voice Program.  To learn more about this program CLICK HERE.

I’d love to hear your thoughts about your Call.

Share below about your own Call.  When did you know it?  Is it clear?  Are you not sure about it?

It is more important now than ever before that you value your own path, your own gifts, your own divinity, and bring it forth into the world.
